Auditions for all Louth Playgoers productions are open to all. Whether it's your first time performing, new to the area or perhaps it's just been a while since you last performed, our audition process is designed to be welcoming and fair.
All roles are available to audition on the audition dates advertised. For some shows, childrens auditions will take place seperately to the adult auditions.
Upcoming auditions are advertised on our public website as early as possible - www.louthriverheadtheatre.com/auditions
Wherever possible, audition material will be included on the website allowing potential auditionees to review the script and/or music where appropriate ahead of time. This is recommended although not essential.
On arrival at the auditions you will be asked to complete a short form with your personal details, any dates you are not able to make for rehearsals and what part(s) you are interested in auditioning for.
Once the auditions begin you'll read for the part(s) you have selected alongside fellow auditionees. An audition panel will observe and make selections based on the performances given on the night of auditions. This panel is typically made up of the Director, Assistant Director or Producer (as appropriate) at least one LPS Board Member and the President.
Usually play readings or libretto are read in front of all auditionees. Vocal (singing) auditions are often carried out with just the auditionee and the panel - this can vary depending on the size of the cast and the production team.
An independent observer (usually a representative from the LPS board) can be present to ensure all potential cast members have had the opportunity to be seen for all parts they are interested in and that the panel has made a fair decision based on the performances of the evening.
Details of how you can become a member and if show fees are applicable to the show you are auditioning for will be made available on the evening of audition.
